The residence
Golden Hill stands in Muthangari, off Oldonyo Sabuk Road, and is built around a single idea carried to an unusual conclusion: that the experience of a home begins at the threshold of the building, not the threshold of the flat. Every residence has its own elevator lobby. Every residence has a second, discreet corridor for staff and deliveries, so the household's working life never crosses its social one.

The lobby is finished in warm tones with a professional concierge on duty, and private lounges sit off it for residents receiving guests. Each residence is served by its own elevator hall and its own high-speed cabin, so a journey home is never shared. Underground parking runs at an average of two spaces per household, with separated access and egress.
The four types are not variations on a floor plate; they are four different propositions. Type B is the most compact at approximately 230 m², arranged for a family that entertains. Type C, at approximately 288 m², is organised as a circular flow around a panoramic lounge. Type A, at approximately 380 m², adds a fourth bedroom, a study with its own bathroom and a second kitchen. Type D, at approximately 515 m², is served by two lifts and two entrance foyers, and is offered in limited numbers.
Types A and D carry both an enclosed kitchen and an open one. The closed kitchen takes the heat, the smoke and the noise of real cooking; the open kitchen faces the room and takes the guests. It is a Kenyan and pan-African way of cooking that most apartment plans quietly refuse to allow for.
